  • Windows computers (prior to ME, NT and 2000) come setup allowing anyone access to your computer ANYTIME you're hooked to the Internet. Some software vendors take advantage by hiding a competitor's software during download. Hackers look for open ports to crack passwords, erase your hard drive...just to say they could. A good place to begin looking out for yourself is at www.grc.com ...it will change the way you view the Internet. Taking simple steps now can stop unauthorized entry when an outsider tries to access your PC.

  • Virus protection is very important! At least two well known companies provide solutions and updates: www.norton.com, www.mcafee.com
