| Downtown Pontiac, Michigan - Lots of new construction going on down there. You can see Widetrack Drive circles the downtown area. It was the site of several "indy" type car races. The races had to be stopped because of fatal accidents. The city sponsors learned that because of the lack of turns, those long straight-aways allowed speeds to get too high. These center-of-the-city few blocks are about a mile west of the Silverdome, and home to the WaltDisney/ABCcompany owned Oakland Press. |
